I loved my job as merchandiser. It's really a great job and in realty pays well and your pretty much on your own as far as schedule.

They realigned districts and had to come up with an excuse to let people go. So in one week they fired 14 people! Everyone had the same reason and the same excuse. And what's even better is we can't get unemployment because the state put a cap on only select people can get unemployment. Mostly just state workers can get unemplyoment.
Anyway, that's not why I am posting, as annoyng as it is.
I was wondering if people really like their jobs or are they doing their jobs to make money?
I would love to get another route in merchandising but for now I am just job hunting as my job.

I don't know how happy people are with their jobs. For the most part it seems most people are overworked and under payed working for someone they don't really like. I started out on my own a little over a year ago and I'm overworked and under payed but I love working for myself. I think that is the main difference
I am actually at a "stand-still" right now career-wise. I've been working since I was 14 years old, so I'm no stranger to making money. However, I am still on the lookout for a career that I actually like, and I'm a bit frustrated since I haven't figured it out yet--especially after years of attending college. I recently came to the conclusion that I need to explore starting my own business, but the idea makes me a bit nervous because I've never done it before. Anyway, I hope to be out of my current job very soon. Right now, it pays the bills but I have no passion for it.
I worked for a family business for twenty years and I really enjoyed my job. We then sold the company and when I was working for the new owners I really began to dread going to work.
I have been at the same place for 13 years now. I would like a change but with the job market the way it is now I can't do anything. I feel like I am in such a rut these day's .
